If your Zoom video is not working, there are ways to fix it. In our past blog post, we talked about how to troubleshoot audio problems. But what happens if your camera isn't working? Here are our tips on how to troubleshoot your video if your Zoom video is not working.
1) Click the “Start Video” button and select your webcam
When you enter your Zoom meetings, Zoom will ask you if you want to start with or without video on. First, ensure that you enter with video on. Secondly, if you are using an external webcam, select which webcam you will be using. You also have the option to check your video. While in a meeting, click the carrot next to the camera icon at the bottom left corner of your screen. Click "Video Settings" and Zoom will display a preview along with your video settings.
2) Make sure no other programs are using your camera
Make sure that all other programs that involve camera use are are closed. This may include pre-installed camera apps, such as such as Photo Booth and Facetime, other video conferencing software, or websites that use your camera. If you're on a mobile device, make sure you closed out of apps you are no longer using. This will help ensure that Zoom has access to your camera.
3) Quit Zoom and restart your device
If you're still having trouble with your video, quit zoom and restart your device. Often times the Zoom app needs to "reset" after changing the settings. Open Zoom again and test your video. If the video is still not working, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Zoom app on your device.
